Aleksandar Mitrovic of Fulham was dismissed shortly after for shoving the referee at the result. Marco Silva, the manager of Fulham, exited his coaching area and was also dismissed by the referee. Mitrovic had given Fulham the lead in the second half until a Burno Fernandes penalty in the 75th minute levelled the score for the Red Devils. After the match, Fulham manager Silva commented on the red cards and expressed his disappointment with Aleksandar Mitrovic’s actions. He stated that Mitrovic should control his emotions better and acknowledged that he had to accept his own sending off for approaching the official near the VAR monitor.

Fulham’s frustration also stemmed from a first-half penalty appeal for a foul on Mitrovic, which VAR did not award. Silva expressed his disappointment that VAR was not used in that instance and suggested that the pressure may have influenced the officials.
