- Lionel Messi was let go by Barcelona over financial troubles
- Tissue used by 6 time Ballon d’Or winner at his farewell now up for sale
- Messi joined the Catalans when he was just 13 years old
Lionel Messi’s time at the Spanish giants Barcelona had come to an end earlier this month.
The Argentine, who went on to win 6 Ballon d’Or, has spent a large period of his life at the Catalan giants having joined them in 2000 when he was just 13 years old.
The Argentine’s contract ran out this summer but it was expected that he would sign an extension.
However, despite Messi’s willingness to extend his stay, it was not possible due to the limits of the salary cap at La Liga, which marked an end to his 21-year spell at the club.
Barcelona announced the news to the world and a few days later Messi held a press conference where he said his goodbyes., and to say it was a tear-jerker would be an understatement.
Seconds after Messi took to the stage he broke down in tears. He was handed a tissue where he wiped away his tears before composing himself and addressing his exit from the club.

That tissue was, understandably, discarded by Messi. However, according to Complete Sports, per the Daily Star, the tissue is now being auctioned off.
It was reported that the tissue was picked up off of the floor by someone in attendance at the press conference and have now put it up for sale on the international auction site, Meikeduo, with the starting price of $1 million.
The seller justifies the price by writing in the description that it “contains Messi’s genetic material” which can be used to “clone” a new version of Messi.
The Daily Star writes that the advertisement remains live on the portal, but nobody has, yet, decided to meet the asking price.
If for whatever reason you wish to buy one of Messi’s used tissues, now is your chance. However, it will surely set you back a fortune.
