In the first T20I against Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa Stadium, team India defeated the hosts by 38 runs taking a lead in the 3-match series. India managed to put a scored of 164 runs in 20 overs while batting in Colombo.

Then, the bowlers took hold of the game and performed splendidly as they sent back the entire Sri Lankan team for just 126 runs on the scoreboard with Bhuvneshwar Kumar taking four wickets giving away 22 runs in 3.3 overs.
India’s captain for the match Shikhar Dhawan was extremely pleased with the effort put in by the Indian players in the first T20I.
Suryakumar Yadav scored 50 from just 34 balls, his second half-century in his fourth T20 International, and was involved in a 62-run stand for the third wicket with skipper Dhawan.
After the match, Dhawan lauded the batsman for his 360-degree batting as he said that the 30-year-old is an “amazing” player to watch.
Dhawan said, “He (Surya) is a great player and we enjoy watching him bat. He took the pressure from me and the way he plays calculated shots was amazing to watch,” at the post-match presentation ceremony.
While Dhawan admitted that he thought they were “10-15 runs short”, he also assessed that it wasn’t too bad in terms of recovery.
“I feel we played quite well after losing early wickets. It was about one or two boundaries, we knew we could get going.”
Former Indian batsman, Mohammad Kaif, too, lauded the 30 year old Suryakumar saying he plays “first ball like he already has a 100 to his name.”
Kaif wrote, “Surya Kumar Yadav these days plays his first ball like he already has a 100 to his name. No nerves, no doubts, in total control. Always great to see a domestic star do well internationally,” on Twitter.
