The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League has already become a roller coaster ride as some of the teams who were fan favourite are finding themselves troubled situations. On Wednesday, Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) bowlers managed to dry out the runs in the second half of Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) chase to register a 10-run victory over last season’s runners up in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match.
Rahul Tripathi was the star for the team in purple as he played a crucial knock of 81 to help his side set up a 168-run target for the team led by MS Dhoni. For his heroics with the bat, Rahul Tripathi was adjudged player of the match.
As the opener from Maharashtra approached to collect his award, Shah Rukh Khan, co-owner of the Kolkata-based franchise, shouted his iconic dialogue “Rahul naam to suna hoga” from the stands leaving the Man of the Match Rahul Tripathi in splits.

The opening pair put on 37 runs before Shardul Thakur sent Gill back to the dressing room. Eoin Morgan, Andre Russell failed with the bat as well but late flourish from Pat Cummins and Dinesh Karthik made sure that KKR put a competitive total on the board in Abu Dhabi making sure its bowlers have some room to breathe.
CSK bowler Dwayne Bravo was the pick of the bowlers as he finished with figures of 3 wickets at an expense of just 37 runs.
KKR hit back with everything they had, making sure CSK lost the in-form Faf du Plessis in the fourth over. However, in-form Ambati Rayudu and Shane Watson then put on 69 runs for the second wicket.
At one stage, Chennai Super Kings were klooking strong as they had put up a total of 90 runs in just 10 over after losing just 1 wicket, but an over cautious approach in the middle saw the team in yellow fell 10 runs short of the target and stumbled to their fourth defeat this season.
Currently, after playing 6 matches, CSK sits at 5th position, but all the three teams below CSK have 1 game advantage over it. KKR, too, has played 5 matches and are currently sitting at the 3rd position on IPL 2020 points table.
