The Match 12 of IPL 2020 will see the Rajasthan franchise arrive in Dubai after scoring 200+ runs in both of their previous matches in Sharjah.
Coming to the Kolkata Knight Riders led by Dinesh Karthik, the team hasn’t been as impressive. They lost their opening game to Mumbai Indians (MI) with relative ease but put in a very strong show against the SunRisers Hyderabad winning their first match on the IPL season and adding 2 points on the Ponts Table.
However, considering the form batsmen from RR are in right now the challenger for KKR will be different altogether.
Seeing the head-to-head stats, the two teams sit level pegging with winning 10 games each against each other. However, the last 5 games were largely dominated by Kolkata, winning 4 matches and losing just 1 against Rajasthan.
Additionally, the venue, Dubai, remains tricky for both of these franchises, both played 1 match at this venue and none managed to come victorious.
Adapting to Dubai would be among the biggest challenges for Rajasthan Royals considering the boundaries at Sharjah – where RR won their initial 2 IPL 2020 games – are shorter when compared to the venue meaning it will be harder to hit sixes and there will be more chances to get caught at the boundaries when they will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Having said this, there are some issues both sides need to rectify. Jos Buttler was brought into the starting line-up of Rajasthan Royals at the cost of young talent Yashaswi Jaiswal who has only played one game in IPL 2020. The problem is Buttler hadn’t looked good for the English side in the international matches which were played before IPL and he failed to deliver with the bat on his maiden IPL 2020 outing as well.
Talking about KKR, Kuldeep Yadav, their star spinner, has remained wicket-less this season while Sunil Narine hasn’t yet managed to produce runs with the bat as a top order batsman. A change in the batting line-up for his side could be thought by Karthik and the team management, however, it looks like they might persist with the same combinations for at least another game this season.
While on form, there are no doubts that the Rajasthan side has the upper hand, it’s the adaptability factor which will likely decide whether they will continue their winning run have put a stop to it tonight. Sanju Samson and Rahul Tewatia, who have hit sixes at will so far, have a more tasking scenario ahead of them against KKR and a bigger field in Dubai. Having said this, we think Kolkata Knight Riders will emerge victorious, beating Rajasthan Royals in a thrilling match.
