The end of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League is coming to an end, and it has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride with Mumbai Indians, the defending champions not even making it to the playoffs and league favourite Royal Challengers Bangalore being kicked out of the tournament in the 1st eliminator of the tournament.
Today is the semi-final of IPL 2021 and will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders, being led by Eoin Morgan, against Delhi Capitals which is led by Rishabh Pant.
The match will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium and will begin at 7:30 PM (IST).
While Kolkata Knight Riders will be coming into the match after defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 1st Eliminator of the Indian Premier League 2021 on 11th October by 4 wickets (2 balls remaining). Delhi Capitals will be coming in after losing their 1st play-off against MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings on the 10th of October.
Surprisingly, CSK defeated DC with the same margin as KKR defeated RCB, 4 wickets and 2 balls remaining.
Winner of today’s match will play for the title of IPL 2021 against Chennai Super Kings on the 15th of October.
KKR and DC have faced each other 28 times throughout IPL and 15 times KKR went home as winners, Delhi Capitals won 12 while 1 match ended with No Result.

This will be the third time in IPL 2021 that KKR and DC will face each other, in the earlier matches, the score remains tied up with both teams besting the other on one occasion. However, in the latest face off between the two teams, which was played on the 28th of September as the 41st match of the season, Kolkata Knight Righters won the match by 3 wickets and 10 balls remaining.
Delhi Capitals, on the same pitch as they will face KKR today, delivered underperforming innings against KKR. With the bat, they only managed to score 127 after losing 9 wickets in 20 overs. Steve Smith, Rishabh Pant and Shikhar Dhawan were the top 3 performers with the bat scoring 29 (34), 29 (36) and 24 (20) runs respectively.
KKR’s bowlers showed their supremacy as Lockie Ferguson, Sunil Narine and Venkatesh Iyer eah took 2 wickets. Ferguson gave only 10 runs in his 2 spells, Narine gave only 18 in his 4 overs while Iyer was a little expensive with 2 wickets as he gave 29 runs in 4 overs, however, still a great economy rate considering the T20 format.
When KKR came out to bat, they made their intent clear, they were here to win the match but but not taking unnecessary risks. Sunil Narine shone with the bat as well and was the third highest scorer for KKR in the match.
Nitish Rana scored unbeaten 36 in 27 deliveries, Shubman Gill scored 30 in 33 balls and Sunil Narine scored 21 from just 10 balls.
DC’s Avesh Khan tried to control the match, so did Axar Patel with their impressive bowling figures, but could not help their team lead to victory.
Avesh Khan and Axar Patel, both, bowled 3 overs and gave just 13 runs, however, Avesh took 3 wickets as well while Axar could not get any.
KKR won the match by 3 wickets and 10 balls remaining.

There is no doubt that both these teams, Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders, deserve a spot in the finals. They have proved their mettle in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League and one of them will see their campaign ending tonight.
Having said this, Delhi Capitals won 10 games in this season of IPL and even their last match against the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings. MS Dhoni was able to snatch the game from DC’s clinch in the last few balls. We believe that DC will win today’s match.
