IPL 2021 Auction: Complete List Of Players Bought, Full Squad List Of 8 Franchises

The auction for the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League has set the tone of what could be yet another exciting season of Twenty20 cricket as Chennai witnessed a lot of action on Thursday.

As many as 57 players were bought and a total of ₹ 145.3 crore were spent at the mini-auction.

As many as 22 overseas players were sold and the was South African all-rounder, Chris Morris, was the one who broke the all-time record for the most expensive player as Rajashthan Royals fended off a stiff battle from Punjab Kings.

He was sold for a whopping price of ₹ 16.25 crore.

On the other hand, Glenn Maxwell continued his run of fetching big money at the Indian Premier League auction despite having a below ordinary season in the last season of IPL (2020) as he was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Another record was broken by the 24 year old Australian Cricketer, Riley Meredith, by becoming the most expensive overseas uncapped player when he was picked up by Punjab Kings for ₹ 8 crore.

Krishnappa Gowtham, the Indian uncapped off-spinner also fetched a whopping ₹ 9.2 crore as Chennai Super Kings went after off-spinning all-rounders at the auction.

There were some surprises as well in the IPL 2021 auction as India’s Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara was picked up by CSK while Harbhajan Singh and Kedar Jadhav found late takers in Kolkata Knight Rider and Sunrisers Hyderabad, respectively.

Sachin Tendulkar’s son and the left-arm pacer Arjun Tendulkar was the last pick at the auction as Mumbai Indians bought him for Rs 20 lakh.

If Shreyas Iyer will continue to captain Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021, he will have to manage 4 former IPL captain, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravichandran Ashwin and Steve Smith.
