According to a report, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wrote to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to get formal approval to travel to India for the ODI World Cup in October-November.
According to “Espncricinfo.com,” the PCB has requested instructions on whether the national team is permitted to travel to India and, if so, if there are any concerns about any of the five locations for the Pakistan games. The letter was also submitted to the interior and the foreign ministry.
According to the PCB, they informed the website that they wrote to their Patron, the honourable Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, via the Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ministry, following the release of the World Cup schedule last Tuesday. The letter, which asked for permission to visit India for the World Cup, was also copied to the ministries of foreign affairs and interior.
The PCB acknowledges that the Government of Pakistan has the authority to decide whether to travel to India and choose appropriate locations for their matches. They state that they have complete trust in the government’s judgement and promise to follow any instructions given.
PCB further said, “It is entirely up to the Government of Pakistan the process it wants to formulate and follow before advising us on the next steps. If this requires sending an advance team to India to inspect the venues and hold meetings with the event organisers, then it will solely be the government’s decision.”
The report states that the letter was written on June 26. Additionally, it stated that the PCB informed the government of Pakistan’s itinerary.
Before sanctioning the national team’s travel to the neighbouring country for the World Cup, a security committee from Pakistan is reportedly going to visit India to evaluate the sites.
When the new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board is chosen after the Eid holidays, according to an official source in the Inter-Provincial Coordination (Sports) Ministry, the government, including the foreign and interior ministries, will determine when to send the security delegation to India.
He stated that the delegation is likely to travel to Ahmedabad, which will host the prestigious India-Pakistan encounter on October 15, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Chennai.
