Bhagwani Devi, an Indian athlete who is 94 years old, took first place in the international senior sports championships in Finland following in the footsteps of the illustrious Shooter Dadis Chandro Tomar and Prakashi Tomar. In 24.74 seconds, the seasoned Haryanan athlete won the 100-meter race. She subsequently won a bronze medal in the discus throw competition and then added a second bronze in the shot put competition. The World Masters Athletics Championships, a competition for athletes over 35, took place in Tampere from June 29 to July 10. The competitors are separated into five-year age groups for the competition.
Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar lauded her on accomplishing such a huge feat. He said that her passion will serve as a fuel to today’s younger generation and that if the will power is strong enough then age is never a barrier. She also garnered praises from the Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

The senior CPM party leader from Piravom won medals in the 200-meter hurdles and 80-meter hurdles events in the M80 division, which was open to competitors between the ages of 80 and 84.
At the earlier in the year held Kerala State Masters Athletics, Jacob also won gold in the 200-meter and 80-meter hurdle events. At the Asian Masters Athletics Championships, the 82-year-old also won the gold medal.
