Jos Buttler, the captain of England’s white-ball team, expressed optimism that he will fully heal from a calf injury and regain his best form in time for the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia this year.
The 31-year-old has been ruled out for the rest of the competition after sustaining an injury last week while participating in The Hundred for the Manchester Originals.
Buttler stated that he is inclined to make a comeback in England’s seven-match T20 series against Pakistan, which gets underway on 20th September. Buttler was out of a few matches in the previous season owing to an injury to his other calf.

“It is frustrating to miss some cricket; I have really been enjoying playing,” said Buttler. He also spoke of a similar injury that he suffered last year and was mentally prepared this time for the consequences.
He also declared his unavailability for the remainder of The Hundred tournament. He looks forward to being able to participate in the World Cup scheduled to commence in October. The team shall also be facing Pakistan in the upcoming T20I.
Laurie Evans will now lead the team for the rest of the campaign in Jos Buttler’s absence. England’s trip to Pakistan was cancelled last year shortly after New Zealand did the same due to safety concerns.
