Monday was a remarkable day for India at the Commonwealth Games 2022 as Indian athletes clinched two medals in judo and one in weightlifting. The overall medal tally increased to nine by the end of Day 4.

In the women’s 71 kg weightlifting, Harjinder Kaur (India) sealed the bronze medal. Judokas Shushila Devi Likmabam and Vijay Kumar Yadav won silver and bronze, respectively. Harjinder finished third by lifting a total of 212 kilogrammes (93 kg in the snatch and 119 kg in the clean and jerk). India defeated Nigeria 3-0 in the men’s table tennis championship final. India will be up against India for the gold medal. In the semifinals of the badminton mixed team competition, India ousted Singapore 3-0. They will now face Malaysia in the gold medal match.
Sushila Devi Bags Silver Medal
Sushila Devi, an Indian judoka, earned her second silver medal in CWG history by winning the women’s -48kg division.
Sushila, who won the silver medal in 2014, earned it after losing to South African Michaela Whitebooi in the championship match. The Indian judoka fell short in the sudden death match at the summit by only one point.
Judoka Vijay Earns Bronze
Along with Sushila, India earned a second Judo medal on the day with Vijay Kumar’s bronze in the men’s 60kg event. These were India’s first medals outside of the seven weightlifting medals, including three gold, that they have already won in the Birmingham 2022 CWG.
Weightlifting provided the day’s third medal as Harjinder Kaur rallied to take home the bronze in the women’s 71kg clean and jerk division.
Indian Lawn Bowls Etch History
In lawn bowls, the Indian women’s fours team, which included Lovely Choubey, Pinky, Nayanmoni Saikia, and Rupa Rani Tirkey, made history by securing the country’s first-ever medal in the event by advancing to the gold medal match against South Africa on Tuesday and defeating New Zealand 16-13 in the process.
A medal in the competition meant a lot to the players and the country, as evidenced by the vibrant celebration following the semi-finals victory.

Sharath Kamal’s Crazy Celebration After Defeating Aruna Quadri
The reigning champion, the Indian men’s table tennis team, stunned Nigeria 3-0 in the semifinals to go to the championship match. The victory of 40-year-old Sharath Kamal over world No. 15 Aruna Quadri was the match’s high point.

Lakshay Sen Ousts World Champion Loh Kean yew
The Indian mixed badminton team included players like PV Sindhu, Srikanth Kidambi, Lakshay Sen, Chirag Shetty, and Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy, also guaranteed themselves a gold after advancing to the finals with a 3-0 sweep of Singapore.

The massacre was started by the doubles team of Chirag and Satwik. In straight games, Sindhu made it 2-0 before Lakshay Sen defeated world champion Loh Kean Yew.
