Suryakumar Yadav’s innings of 117 runs off just 55 balls made India’s turn to bat against England in the third T20I at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, a one-man show. Although his hit was insufficient to get India across the finish line, the manager of the team and the spectators would be pleased with the way the batsman played his innings. Suryakumar Yadav held India in the game for the bulk of the 216-run chase, and it wasn’t until his dismissal in the penultimate over that England was able to close the deal.
In the third and final T20I of the series, India suffered a 17-run loss against England despite Suryakumar Yadav’s valiant efforts with the bat. The only other Indian to make a century at No. 4 or lower is KL Rahul, who also achieved the three-figure mark at No. 4 against the West Indies at Lauderhill. Yadav was aggressive in his stroke-play. The right-handed batsman needed just 16 balls to go from 50 to three figures after intentionally cutting for four to bring up his 48-ball tonne.
Suryakumar Yadav also became the fifth Indian batsman to record a triple-digit batting average. In the game’s shortest format thus far, the Indian captain Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, KL Rahul, and Deepak Hooda all made hundreds.
In a 216-run chase, Suryakumar entered the crease when India was staggering at 31/3. Despite the rapid turnover of wickets, he stayed unfazed and helped stabilise the Indian innings by joining forces with Shreyas Iyer (28), forging a record 119-run stand for the fourth wicket. The majority of the hitting in the partnership was done by the 31-year-old batter, who took 32 pitches to reach his fifty-run mark.
Then, Suryakumar changed gears, scoring another fifty runs in just 16 deliveries while hitting 14 fours and six sixes on his way to a final total of 117. Just one run separated the batsman from Rohit’s record for the most incredible score by an Indian in the format.
With Suryakumar’s thunderous century, India is just one hit away from sweeping the hosts 3-0. However, he struck out in the sixth over, leaving the club needing 21 runs from the final six pitches.. India’s effort of 198-9 fell short compared to England’s commanding 215-7.

Earlier on Sunday, England defeated India’s backup attack to finish with a massive 215 for seven in the third and final T20 International after Dawid Malan scored a magnificent 77 off 39 balls.
Choosing to bat, England reached 52 for 1 in six overs thanks to captain Jos Buttler (18 off 9 balls) and Jason Roy (27 off 26). After that, Malan and Liam Livingstone (42 not out off 29) enjoyed a fun 84-run partnership that laid the groundwork for a massive total.
India, eventually, lost the game by 17 runs but took the series 2-1.
