36 year old Portuguese footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, has set another benchmark for the English clubs in the UEFA Champions League as the dominant striker once more came to the rescue of The Red Devils in the competition on Tuesday night.
Ronaldo was quick to respond to score with a befitting lofted strike over the head of Villarreal Goalkeeper, Geronimo Rulli, after he committed a grave error.
Ronaldo was able to break the deadlock in the 78th minute of the match when the man in Red found the back of the net, helping The Red Devils safely qualify for the knock-out phase of the Champions League.
In the 90th minute, Jadon Sancho joined Ronaldo on the scoresheet.
Man Utd went into the game on Tuesday knowing that, despite their woes domestically, a draw would be good enough to seal passage to the Last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
One of the main reasons for this happening is Ronaldo who found the back of the net in all 4 of their opening matches, which includes the late winners against both Villarreal as well as Atalanta at Old Trafford.

With just a little over 10 minutes to the final whistle, the former Real Madrid and Juventus star struck again as Villarreal’s Goalkeeper Rulli’s sloppy pass out from the back was intercepted and fell Ronaldo’s way.
Ronaldo did not miss the chance he was awarded and sent the ball back over the Argentine keeper’s head and into the net, finally getting United on the scoresheet after a tense evening in Spain.

Rolando found the net for the sixth time in this year’s UEFA Champions League and the fifth consecutive match in which he has found the net, marking a first for a player from an English club.
The win against Villarreal has put Manchester United firmly on the top of the table and now they doubled their advantage just before the end through Sancho.
The Red Devils sit first in Group F, three points clear of Villarreal and five ahead of Atalanta, who play later on Tuesday against Young Boys.
The way Man Utd is performing at the European competition has proved to be a welcome distraction from the toils of the Premier League, which forced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer out of his job at the weekend after the club was defeated by Watford 4-1.
