Virat Kohli Creates A World Record During Match Between RCB and DC On Monday

On the 5^th of October in the match played between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals, the former’s skipper Virat Kohli created a world record when he appeared for his Indian Premier League for 197^th time in the United Aram Emirates.

Virat Kohli, who has been playing for the RCB right from the first season of the Indian Premier League which began in 2008, has created the record of becoming the most-capped player for a single T20 team. With his 197th game for RCB, Kohli broke the record of Somerset’s James Hildreth.

In his 197 appearances for the IPL franchise, Kohli has scored 5969 runs with an astounding average of 37.77 and a strike rate of 132. He has hit 5 tons and 39 fifties for RCB so far.

Kohli is also the only player in the history of the cash rich tournament who has scored more than 900 runs in a single season.

However, while Kohli went on creating a record for himself, his team faced a humiliating defeat at the hands of Delhi Capitals as they lost by a deficit of 59 runs on 5^th October. 

The Virat Kohli-led side won the toss and asked Delhi Capitals to bat first.

Delhi Capitals’ openers Prithvi Shaw (23-ball 42) and Shikhar Dhawan (28-ball 32) gave them the perfect start and stitched a 68-run stand for the opening wicket.

And when both of the openers where dismissed, skipper Shreyas Iyer – who had pulled back a sublime knock off 88 runs in their last fixture against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) – failed to click with the bat and departed cheaply for 11 runs.

Talking about RCB, Mohammed Siraj claimed two wickets, while Isuru Udana and Moeen Ali chipped in with a wicket each.

In reply, Kagiso Rabada proved to be a tormentor-in-chief for Delhi Capitals as he finished with brilliant figures of 4 wickets for 24 to help his side restrict RCB to a score of 137 for nine in their stipulated 20 overs.

Besides Rabada, Anrich Nortje and Axar Patel grabbed two wickets each, while Ravichandran Ashwin also contributed with a wicket.

RCB skipper Virat Kohli was the top scorer for the RCB with 43 runs off of 39 balls. The victory saw the Delhi Capitals climb up to the top spot in the IPL points table with 8 points. The Iyer-led team is standing above defending champions Mumbai Indians with four wins from five matches so far in the 13^th season of the Indian Premier League which is being played in the United Arab Emirates.
