Highlights:
- SunRisers Hyderabad to play against Delhi Capitals today in Abu Dhabi
- SunRisers Hyderabad have not won a match yet in IPL 2020
- Delhi Capital is enjoying their campaign having won both of their earlier matches
Today, 29-09-2020, a battle of two extremes will be witnessed in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League as the point table leaders Delhi Capitals will take on SunRisers Hyderabad who are sitting at the bottom of the points table.
Delhi which is being considered as one of the most balanced sides in IPL 2020, Hyderabad has had struggles in the middle-order which has seen them being deprived of victories on two occasions already in IPL 2020.
Skipper David Warner, Jonny Bairstow and Manish Pandey are the only batters who have managed to get runs for SRH till date but they would now be up against DC bowlers who have been among the most successful in taking wickets in the 13th edition of IPL which is being held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Delhi Capitals and SunRisers Hyderabad have faced each other 15 times in IPL and out of those 15 matches 9 times SunRisers Hyderabad went back victorious while Delhi Capitals only won 6 times.
However, when it comes to Abu Dhabi, SRH has lost both of their matches played here while Delhi too lost their only match at the venue which they played in the earlier season of IPL. Whichever side goes on to win today, will register its maiden victory at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dabhi, however, SRH will really need this win if they want their chances of winning the competition alive.
On paper and also in performance, Delhi Capitals, look far more settled when compared to SunRisers Hyderabad. Having one of the finest talents in the cash rich tournament – both in terms of overseas and Indian players – Delhi have the clear edge over Hyderabad.
SRH which is led by David Warner brought in Mohammad Nabi in the line-up against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) after Mitchell Marsh was ruled out of the competition due to an injury he sustained in the 1st match of the tournament against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Although the veteran Afghanistan cricketer proved economical with the ball and gave a fine cameo with the bat, his contributions weren’t enough for SRH to win the match against KKR.
As Kane Williamson, New Zealand captain, declared himself fit to play again and available for IPL, Warner could include him in the playing XI against DC to give that additional fire power to the batting line-up in the middle order which has been seen struggling for runs since the start of IPL 2020.
Talking about Delhi Capitals, Shreyas Iyer has been perfect in terms of his team selection and strategies he has used in IPL 2020. Another win today against SRH would get him a hat-trick of victories and enable Delhi to sustain their lead as the leader on the points table of IPL 2020.
However, with Warner determined to break his side’s losing streak, this could be Iyer’s biggest test in the tournament this season, yet.
