Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharam shared a video today via Instagram urging their fans and the public to stay safe and avoid the spread of the novel Coronavirus which has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
On the global level, the pandemic has halted or postponed the sporting events and has also led to the delay of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 which was scheduled to start from 29th March, however, will start from April 15th now.
Kohli and Anushka send out the message at the time when Indian cricketers like Rohit Sharma and Sachin Tendulkar, recently, took to the social media platforms, their thoughts on the ways one can prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Speaking about the issue, both Kohli and Sharma took turns to convey their thoughts in the heartfelt message.
Virat Kohli said, “We know that we are going through a difficult time. We are staying at home for our safety and for everyone else as well. Let’s make it safe for us and everyone else by self-isolation,
Anushka Sharma, too, emphasized on the need to act together and stay at home to contain the deadly virus.
They say, “We are staying home for our safety and the safety of other” and urger the people “to do it too”.
India has registered 200 cases of Coronavirus as of now, and the virus has claimed the lives of 4 people already.
When addressing the people of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Thursday night asked the people to indulge in “Janata Curfew” and stay indoors on Sunday from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM in an attempt to contain the spread the pandemic.
