In an unexpected turn of events, former Barcelona and Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is expected to return to competitive football shortly.
After finishing his successful career at Manchester City, the Argentine moved to Barcelona in 2021. However, Aguero’s tenure at Barcelona was not particularly impressive. His career ended abruptly in 2021 due to heart arrhythmia.
Aguero recently addressed the rumors surrounding his potential comeback to the field. “If Carlitos (Tevez) reaches out to me, what should I do? I’ll need to consult with the cardiologist. Maybe play for 20 minutes. Should we reach out to the cardiologist to get their opinion?” the media quoted Manchester City’s leading scorer as saying.

According to Marca, Sergio Aguero released audio recordings from his cardiologist suggesting that the Manchester City legend might perhaps return to the football pitch.

“The way things are progressing, you won’t encounter any issues playing eventually,” the cardiologist reassured Aguero. “Of course, we’ll need to conduct tests and simulate gameplay scenarios to ensure your readiness. When facing both central defenders, it’s crucial to be prepared to execute a feint or a similar maneuver. Therefore, I’d advise you to prepare yourself, as there is reason for optimism,” he added, as per Marca.
“We can confirm that your progress is excellent, and you should aim to reach a level of fitness where you can participate for a few minutes,” the cardiologist stated. “You’re looking good, and you’ve been managing everything without any issues. We’ll continue to monitor your condition closely. In summary… it’s possible, yes, it’s possible. You’re progressing admirably,” he concluded.
Sergio Aguero has made a few cameo appearances in Gerard Pique’s seven-a-side Kings League after returning from injury. Aguero felt chest trouble 41 minutes into his first start for Barcelona against Alaves in 2021. He even required medical assistance on the pitch before halftime. Aguero was instructed to rest, and the 35-year-old later announced his retirement from professional football. Aguero confirmed his retirement during a press conference in December 2021.
